APPROACH

I see Nature as the original artist. We can see this all around us as we step out into the world. A deep body of works that has been unfolding for billions of years. In my wood sculpture I try to honour and bring out this inherent artistry of Nature; elucidating, highlighting, conjoining or merging elements, in order to make that reality of meaning more manifest.

I also often choose to leave my pieces in nature. I feel this as Gift. Gift to that inherent creative force that produces and sustains all life; and for the potential reverential upliftment of that place.

Occasionally my pieces reveal an activist urge in me. It mostly corresponds to the Land. It may be around: Access. Reverence. Protection. Land use. Landlessness. Sacred ecology.

In order to dive into these things experientially, I try to live close to the earth.
